Kalamazoo Up 1.5 Games on Muskegon

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- With a 27-10 loss to the Chicago Slaughter on Friday, the Muskegon Thunder have dropped to one and a half games behind the Xplosion in the Great Lakes East Division. The two will meet this Saturday, May 3 at Wings Stadium at 7:30 PM.

Muskegon still holds a chip on its shoulder as the only team to have beat the Xplosion in the 2008 season, with a 44-37 overtime win over Kalamazoo at L.C. Walker Arena in Muskegon on April 4.

The previously hot Thunder, who had won four straight games before losing at home to Chicago, had a change of pace from its regular routine last week. The Thunder entered the contest averaging nearly 40 points per game, yet scored a season low ten points and gained only 150 yards of total offense against the Slaughter.

The Xplosion will look to avenge its lone loss of the 2008 season on Saturday at Wings Stadium, where the Black & Gold are a perfect 10-0 within the walls of Wings. The last time Muskegon traveled to Kalamazoo, it left broken hearted after a down-to-the-wire loss, 41-37, at the hands of the Xplosion.

Kalamazoo leads the all-time series 2-1, with a 1-0 home record and a 1-1 record at L.C. Walker Arena.
