AFL Open Tryouts Begin September 6

NEW YORK - The search for new AFL talent begins on Saturday, September 6 as the Chicago Rush will host the first open tryout of the 2008 offseason.

Chicago joins Dallas (9/13), Orlando (9/13) and San Jose (9/20) as one of four teams who will hold open tryouts in September. Coaching staffs will evaluate players in combine exercises such as the 40-yard dash, bench press, shuttle runs and position drills.

Three teams will host multiple open tryouts with the New Orleans VooDoo hosting five in various regional locations throughout the southeastern United States.

New Orleans head coach MIKE NEU has invited five players to training camps from open tryouts during the VooDoo's four-year history.

"It has always been my philosophy to not overlook anyone and evaluate as many players as I possibly can," remarked Neu. "These five open tryouts will give these players a great chance to be evaluated and get noticed by our coaching staff."
