Rattlers Keep Playoff-Guaranteed Team Together for '09

MESA, Ariz. - What a difference a season makes.

Just six months ago, the Arizona Rattlers entered their playoff-guaranteed season with only six returning players out of the 37 training camp participants. With the 2009 camp still half a year away, the Rattlers have 24 members of last season's squad under contract.

"We wanted to get some of our core players resigned to build on for next year," said HEAD COACH KEVIN GUY. But one of two things has to happen: our current players will either have to raise their level of play, or we will have to get better players at certain spots. Our goal from this point on will be to raise the bar."

Rattlers DL MKRISTO BRUCE (6-6, 270, Washington State) is in training camp with the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL. Bruce, who joined the team mid-season, recorded starts at DE and LB, and was named to the league's Al Lucas Hero Team after joining the Rattlers mid-season.

Sunday was the last day teams could resign players with expiring contracts. Players who were not resigned enter the league's free agency pool, though the signing period will not start until later this year.
