Chicago Rush National Anthem Contest Returns

June 5, 2008 -Oh Say Can You Sing? All Chicagoland singers are invited to show "off" their vocal abilities during the Chicago Rush's annual National Anthem Contest, which will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, the Rush announced today.

This year's winner will be chosen by Rush fans and have the honor of performing the anthem prior to the Arena Football team's upcoming AFL Divisional Playoff game - slated for the weekend of July 5-6. (The exact date and time will be determined later this month).

"The annual National Anthem Contest always draws some of Chicagoland's most-talented singers," said Rush vice president of communications Mike Alzamora. "With the winner singing at the playoff game on Independence Day weekend, it should make this year's contest even more special."

A panel of judges will select three finalists whose versions of the Star Spangled Banner will then be available on the Rush Web site, www.chicagorush.com. Beginning on Wednesday, June 25, Rush fans will have the opportunity to listen to the three versions and vote for their choice. Voting will continue through Wednesday, July 2, with the winner announced Thursday, July 3.

All contestants must register in advance by calling Laura Visin, Rush community relations manager, at (773) 243-3439. The deadline for registration is 5 p.m., Monday, June 23.
