Eskimo Training Camp Notes - Day 6

Rookie QB Tyler Donavan on his role: "It's tough, especially at a quarterback position because its all about the rhythm. I'm a rookie and they've got some veteran guys out here and they're brining me along. It's all about those mental reps right now. The spot where I'm in right now, that's where you're going to make your most progress, is the mental part of the game. When you reps come, you've got to make the most of it."

Another day, another fight: The Philadelphia Flyers of "the Broad Street Bullies" era would be in tough against the '08 Eskimos. At least twelve players clashed during a dust-up at mid-field. The brawl ended when rookie OL Calvin Armstrong launched himself on top of the pile. Coach Maciocia loves the intensity but characterized today's tilt as "more of a love fest than anything else and there's more violence on the inside drills."

Newest Nicknames: Receiver Jason Tucker, who's sidelined with a sore back, has earned a new nickname. This morning Tucker was greeted by Receivers Coach Mike Kelly with a jovial, "Good morning Eat and Sleep!'" Quarterback Jason Maas also has a new handle, "Wing-nut". Maas, who has endured more than few shots about his "prominent" ears, was described by a teammate as looking like a human wing-nut. We think this name will stick.

Change of Heart: Kelly Campbell has decided to stick with his original number of 71. The first year wideout was going to move to #85, but has reconsidered and says I'll make the number my own." Waddell Smith may have something to say about that. Smith, the Esks deep threat during the Five in a Row era, wore #71 with distinction during his seven seasons in Edmonton.

Injuries:

- Jason Tucker (back)

- Ron "Goldie" McClendon (quad)

- Adam Braidwood (knee)
