United Indoor Football Playoff Round One Review

Omaha, NE - Week one of the UIF playoffs is in the books. The two home teams won to move on to their respective conference championship games. There are now four teams remaining who will continue their United Bowl championship dreams next weekend. This weekend's results are as follows: the Billings Outlaws defeated the Omaha Beef and the RiverCity Rage beat the Sioux City Bandits.

RIVERCITY 37, SIOUX CITY 33

At St. Charles, MO

The RiverCity Rage beat the Sioux City Bandits 37-33 Saturday evening at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri. Leading the way for the Rage were quarterback Ryan Maiuri and defensive back Ron Rockett. Maiuri tallied 159 yards of total offense (55 rushing and 104 passing) and threw for two touchdowns (both to Virgil Union). Rockett led the defense with a team-high 12 tackles and also broke up a pass. Leading the way for the Bandits were running back Johnny Bentley and defensive back John Zevenbergen. Bentley tallied 131 all-purpose yards (116 rushing and 15 receiving) and rushed for two touchdowns. Zevenbergen made four tackles and also intercepted a pass. With the win, RiverCity's season continues as they will hit the road to play the Bloomington Extreme in the Eastern Conference Championship game to be played Monday, June 30th at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Sioux City finishes their season with a 4-11 record.

BILLINGS 47, OMAHA 30

At Billings, MT

The Billings Outlaws defeated the Omaha Beef 47-30 Saturday evening at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark in Billings, Montana. Billings was led by quarterback Chris Dixon and defensive lineman Eugene Phillips. Dixon tallied 200 yards of total offense (55 rushing and 145 passing) and had a hand in five touchdowns (one rushing and four passing). Phillips made seven tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss while also tallying two sacks. Leading the way for Omaha were defensive back Diezeas Calbert and quarterback James McNear. Calbert led the Beef's defense with 5.5 tackles and also broke up a pass. On offense, McNear tallied 277 yards of total offense (45 rushing and 232 passing) and threw four touchdown passes (to three different receivers). With the win, Billings' season continues as they will hit the road to play Sioux Falls Storm in the Western Conference Championship game to be played Saturday, June 28th at the Sioux Falls Arena. Omaha finishes their season ends with a 10-5 record.
