Odessa is looking to capture its second IFL championship. The Roughnecks are very thankful for the support they have received from the fans of Odessa and Midland this season, and the organization is proud to be involved with all those that will watch and listen to this post-season match-up from the Lake Charles Civic Center in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

PRE-GAME STORY -

The last time Odessa traveled to Louisiana the Swashbucklers came out on top 56-37, back on May 24th. However, things have certainly changed as Louisiana has not played a game in 3 weeks and Odessa is heading into Lake Charles on a 3-game winning streak, including a 67-33 playoff win over Frisco. QB Dennis Gile registered 5 touchdown passes in the winning effort and the defense collected 8 sacks, including 5.5 from LB Shomari Earls. Louisiana will be led by QB Alvin Bartie who collected 62 touchdown passes in the regular season. The Swashbucklers defense has allowed just under 30 points a game, but the Roughnecks have been spreading the ball around to perfection as of late. Odessa will need the same performance out of Gile as he did against Frisco. He will look to WR Jimmy Conner and WR Don Robinson as key weapons in the passing game, and the defensive line will have to keep up the pressure on Louisiana in order to control their high-scoring offense.

"We are peaking at the right moment, and everything is going to start up front defensively for us. If we can develop as much pressure as we had against Frisco then I know we have a great chance of pulling off the upset." stated Head Coach Chris Williams.
