Esks Look to Close Out Road Trip On Winning Note

Last Sunday's loss to the Toronto Argonauts was more emotional for the Eskimos then a regular loss. Import defensive lineman Fred Perry suffered a horrific injury to his left leg early in the fourth quarter when linemate Jim Davis innocently rolled onto his leg. In light of this injury Perry will be out as the Eskimos take on the Ticats and will be replaced by Brandon Guillory. Friday's game will be the first regular season game Guillory has played in since he suffered a spinal cord contusion during the first pre-season game against Calgary in 2007.

Jim Davis and the rest of the Eskimo defensive line will need to tighten up if they are going to stop Hamilton's deadly combination of Casey Printers and Jesse Lumsden. Lumsden, who missed the Ticats last game against the Lions with a knee strain, has rushed for 361 yards on 48 attempts on the year so far.

Friday's game will be the first time that Jason Maas, Brock Ralph and the Edmonton Eskimos return to Ivor Wynne Stadium since November 3 of last year. The Ticats defeated the Eskimos 21-18 to wrap up the 2007 regular season. For Maas and Ralph, this will be the first time they will be facing their former teammates since being traded to Edmonton. The Eskimos are 1-4 with the Ticats in the last five match ups.

The Esks are looking to end their two-game road trip on a winning note before they head back home to take on the BC Lions on Thursday, July 31st at Commonwealth Stadium.
