The decision comes on the heels of another huge crowd at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Field, in which 9,697 fans witnessed the Stormers highest offensive output of the year in a 76-53 rout over Quad City. Through 16 weeks of the 2008 af2 season, the Stormers currently rank second among the league's 29 teams in home attendance, averaging 9,174 per game in Des Moines.
Barnstormers' team president Jeff Lamberti explained the motivation behind the organization's decision not to hike its season ticket prices. "First, we wanted to say thank you' to the over 4,000 fans who purchased 2008 season tickets and made the return of the Barnstormers a reality. Second, having a group of owners who live and work right here in central Iowa, we understand the tough economic conditions facing many families and wanted to make sure Barnstormers football remains a fun and affordable experience for everyone."
Current Stormers season ticket holders will have the exclusive ability to both renew and order additional season tickets from July 17 to September 1, 2008. New season ticket holders will have the ability to begin purchasing 2009 season tickets starting Tuesday, September 2. Any current or new 2009 season ticket purchase that is made on or before October 1, 2008 will be at the 2008 rates, which are the following for eight home games:
Turf Seats (front row) $400
Gridiron Seats (rows 2-5) $280
