Chris Morris takes his place on Eskimo Wall of Honour at Commonwealth Stadium

(Edmonton) Edmonton Eskimo President and CEO Rick LeLacheur today announced that former offensive lineman Chris Morris will be the 25th player in team history to have his name added to the prestigious Wall of Honour at Commonwealth Stadium.

A first round draft pick (8th overall) by Edmonton in the 1992 CFL Draft, Morris starred at the University of Toronto. Morris cracked the veteran laden Eskimo line-up and was in the starting line-up for the opening game of the '92 season. He would keep that job for the next 14 years, playing a key role in Edmonton's Grey Cup titles in 1993, 2003 and 2005.

In making the announcement, Rick LeLacheur says, "It's fitting that as the Edmonton Eskimos celebrate 60 seasons, we honour the player who wore #60 with such distinction for 14 of those seasons. Chris earned the admiration of his teammates, coaches and opponents with his leadership, toughness and competitive spirit. He is most deserving of this honour."

Morris says, "I never played football for the personal attention or accolades, so I am very humbled by this".

He joins former teammates Gizmo Williams (2002), Willie Pless (2004) and Rod Connop (2005) as the most recent inductees to the Wall of Honour.

Morris will be honoured at the 45th Annual Edmonton Eskimo Dinner on Wednesday, October 22 and during a special halftime ceremony at the October 31 game vs. Montreal.

The Eskimos host the Montreal Alouettes on October 31, 2008. Buy Eskimo tickets online at ticketmaster.ca or call 451-8000. For more information on the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club please visit our website at www.esks.com.
