Rage Dance Team Tryouts Set for November

GRAND RAPIDS - The Grand Rapids Rampage will hold the first round of tryouts for the 2009 Rage Dance Team on Nov. 2 at the MVP Athletic Club in Rockford, Mich. The auditions, which are free for all participants, will feature the area's top dancers vying for a spot on West Michigan's premier dance team.

The Rage Dance Team is looking for positive individuals who can turn on the energy and excitement, work well with others and make a solid commitment to the team and the organization. The Rage Dance Team is active in the community and is looking for dancers who are fan friendly and emulate a clean-cut, physically fit image. All persons auditioning must be over 18 years of age and a high school graduate.

Dancers attending the first round of auditions, set to begin at 9:00 a.m. EST, will be asked to perform a series of dance skills; take part in an interview round with Kimberly Herr, the Rage Dance Team's new director of dance; and learn a 45-second dance routine. Several potential Rage Dance Team members will be asked to take part in final auditions the following week, which will be held at Grand Woods Lounge and will be open to the public.

The Grand Rapids Rampage are celebrating their 12th season in the Arena Football League. The Rampage, ArenaBowl XV champions, compete in the league's American Conference, and play their games at Centennial Wireless Field in Van Andel Arena.

The Arena Football League, in its 23rd season, was dubbed the fifth major-league sport by ESPN the Magazine in 2004. The league consists of 17 teams split into two conferences and four divisions.
