Shock add depth to the line

Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that OL Joel Clinger has been added to their 2009 roster.

Clinger, 6-6 320, completed his collegiate career in 2006 at the University of Missouri with 24 regular season consecutive starts (a streak that began his junior season). His senior season he was named to the 1st-Team All-Big 12 after receiving an Honorable Mention in 2005.

As a senior, Clinger was considered a key component to the Tigers offense that was ranked 12th in the nation in total offense (414.33 yards/game) and was ranked 18th in fewest QB sacks allowed (1.33/game). On May 8, 2007 Clinger signed a free-agent contract with the New York Giants and was released during their training camp due to injury.

"Whenever you can add a player like a Joel Clinger it's a no-brainer," Head Coach Adam Shackleford explained. "Between his NFL experience and all of the success that Missouri has had over the last three years in its passing offense, we know that he can help us achieve our goals this season."

For Clinger, joining the Shock seemed to be a bit of a "no-brainer" as well.

"Spokane has a tradition of winning and moving players up (to the Arena Football League)," Clinger explained.

Clinger is the fourth OL added to the 2009 roster. Season ticket reservations for the defending National Conference Champion Shock can be placed now by calling (509) 242 7462.
