"We are very excited and honored to partner with the Amarillo Dusters for this game to raise food for the Food Bank," said High Plains Food Bank public relations director, Zack Wilson. "It couldn't come at a better time."
Anyone that brings canned goods to donate to the High Plains Food Bank will receive a discounted ticket for the Dusters War on I-40 game on Saturday, May 3 against the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz.
The Dusters Box Office will serve as a collection point for canned goods. High Plains Food Bank will have a truck at the Civic Center to serve as a collection point on Saturday.
Bring in two canned goods for an $11 endzone ticket, normally $16. Four canned goods will be good for a $13 corner ticket, normally $21. Bring six canned goods for the best bargain of a $16 sideline seat. Sideline seats are $30 at the box office.
Wilson expressed that this is one of the times that food donations tend to drop; however, need arises because of kids getting out of school and no longer having breakfast and lunch at school.
"It's important to help out in the community anytime we can," said Dusters vice president, Joe Morgado. "Being able to provide this opportunity when it is so needed is great for both the High Plains Food Bank and the Dusters."
The Food Bank provides food to people in all 26 counties in the Texas Panhandle. Wilson said that the need for food increases in the summer months so now is a critical time for food donations.
The Dusters Box Office is located at 817 S. Polk Street in the Paramount Building next to Randy's. For more information on how you can get involved, contact the Amarillo Dusters at (806) 350-7277.
