Spring Carnival Rides Into Town

WINNIPEG, MB - You won't have to wait until the 2008 CFL season kicks-off to enjoy one of the best shows in town.

The 2008 SPRING CARNIVAL will take place THURSDAY, MAY 15-MONDAY, MAY 19 at Canad Inns Stadium. This year's carnival will feature entertainment for the whole family including exciting rides, live entertainment, autograph sessions with Winnipeg Blue Bomber players, appearances by Bomber mascots Buzz and Boomer and the Labatt Blue Lightning Dance Team, beer gardens and a Guitar Heroes competition on the Jumbotron in support of Child Find Manitoba.

A midway entertainment stage will be set-up on the northwest corner of Canad Inns Stadium and will feature a variety of local musical acts beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 16. This year's entertainment lineup includes Chocolate Pie (May 16), Wailen' Jailer (May 17) and Almost Famous (May 18).

Blue Bomber fans will get to meet some of their favourite players, including Doug Brown and Jon Oosterhuis from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17-Monday, May 19 from 2-4 p.m.

The field at Canad Inns Stadium will feature a different kind of entertainment during the Spring Carnival. Youngsters will be able to participate in a variety of activities including face painting, games and a petting zoo. The kids' activities will take place Thursday and Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday-Monday from 12 noon-7 p.m.

Carnival visitors can enter to win a private Guitar Heroes Party. Entry forms will be located at the guest services booth.

The beer gardens will be open Friday from 6-11 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and Monday from 12 noon-6 p.m. They will be located near the entertainment stage inside Gate 3 of Canad Inns Stadium.

Admission to the 2008 Spring Carnival is $6 per person for adults while children 12-and-under will be admitted for $3 each. Children under the age of two will be admitted free. Anyone purchasing a wristband for $30 will be able to enjoy an unlimited number of rides. Sheets of 10, 20 and 40 ride tickets will also be available for purchase.
