Baltimore Mariners Continue Strong Off-Season

Baltimore, MD...The Baltimore Mariners continue their strong off-season preparation with the addition of two impact players that will assist the Mariners as they "Set Sail for the Ring in 2009."

The Mariners have signed RB/DB Isaiah "Zeke" Grier (6'-1" 215 lbs) for the 2009 season. Grier played football at the University of Rhode Island. Grier has spent time in the indoor ranks at all professional levels with his most recent stop in Reading, PA. Grier was an important piece of the AIFA Reading Express Championship runs in 2006 and 2007. Grier, who played with Mariners GM Greg Justice in Reading, is a tremendous two way athlete that can make an impact in all three phases of the game. "It was a pleasure to play with Zeke in 2006 and 2007", stated Mariners GM Greg Justice. "It is a tremendous honor to know that Zeke is now going to be part of a very talented team here with me in Baltimore. There is no doubt that Zeke will be among the leagues top backs in 2009." Coach Simpson says, "Isaiah is the complete package at running back. He gives us a lot of versatility on both sides of the ball. His skills will allow us to do more offensively to keep defenses off balanced. "

In another big signing, the Mariners have signed DL/LB Fearon Wright (6'-2" 245 lbs) for the 2009 season. Wright also played football at the University of Rhode Island. Wright, who played for the NFL Minnesota Vikings in 2001 and most recently for the AIFA Carolina Speed in 2008, looks to make an immediate impact on the Mariners roster. "Fearon is a tremendous athlete and will be a big impact player for us on defense at linebacker and defensive line", says Head Coach Chris Simpson. Mariners GM Greg Justice had this to say about this new acquisition. "I have watched Fearon and played against him. Fearon is a fierce competitor on the field and will not stop until the whistle blows. This 2009 Mariner Defensive unit is shaping up to give opposing teams a lot to handle. "

The Mariners will conduct their first open tryout on October 12 at Freestate Arena. For more information on the tryout, and other exciting news about the Baltimore Mariners, visit our website at www. baltimoremariners. com.
