Avon Cobourne And Damon Duval Players Of The Month

Montreal, Sept. 4, 2008 - Montreal Alouettes' running back Avon Cobourne and kicker Damon Duval have been named the CFL's offensive and special teams players of the month, respectively.

Cobourne - Offensive Player of the Month

Cobourne was outstanding in August, garnering three games with over 100 yards on the ground (137, 107, and 100) and scoring a pair of rushing touchdowns in a trifecta of Alouette wins. His most impressive performance came in the Alouettes 32-14 win over the Argonauts in Toronto on Aug. 15 as he added 103 yards and a major on five receptions to his rushing total for a combined tally of 210 yards. Cobourne registered 344 yards and two touchdowns on 53 carries in August, on top of 15 receptions for 152 yards and a score.

Cobourne currently leads the CFL with 815 yards and five touchdowns on 122 carries, and is second in the league with 49 receptions.

Duval - Special Teams Player of the Month

Duval was good on 11 of his 13 field goal attempts in August, including a career-long 52-yarder last Aug. 8 at Winnipeg - a game in which he was six-for-six in the field goal department. Along the way, he also registered 845 yards on 19 punts and 1,080 yards on 17 kickoffs.

Duval currently leads the CFL with 27 field goals on 30 attempts for a 90 per cent efficiency rating. He is also tops in the league with 3,037 yards on 47 kickoffs and is second with 2,447 yards on 52 punts.

The Alouettes next host the Toronto Argonauts on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Percival Molson Stadium (RDS, TSN, CKAC SPORTS, CJAD, 98,5 FM).
