Stamps Face Esks in Labour Day Classic

The Stamps and Eskimos are set to renew the Battle of Alberta on Labour Day. The game is the second of the season between the clubs. The Eskimos won the first installment, defeating the Stamps 34-31 on July 3 at Commonwealth Stadium. The teams will play the rematch on Sept. 5 in Edmonton in their final meeting of the regular season.

Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach will be in attendance, as will Canadian Olympic gold medalist in men's rowing, Kevin Light. Chief of Defence Staff General Walter Natynczyk will take part in the opening coin toss.

At halftime, the Department of National Defence will help unveil the 2009 Grey Cup festival logo and brand as momentum for the 2009 Grey Cup in Calgary continues to build.

The Stampeders will team up with the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank for the 18th annual Be A Fan, Bring A Can food drive on Monday. Fans are asked to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations to the game. The initiative is led by wives and girlfriends of Stampeders coaches and players. They'll be at the McMahon Stadium gates, wearing their significant other's jersey and collecting the food and cash donations.

Tickets for this game are sold out, but fans are encouraged to call Ticketmaster at 403.777.0000 or go online at Ticketmaster.ca to purchase tickets for the Sept. 12 game against the Montreal Alouettes and the Sept. 20 game against the Toronto Argonauts.
