"With the emergence of the young receivers on our roster - including Travis LaTendresse and AFL Rookie of the Year Donovan Morgan - we felt it was important to try to strengthen some other areas of the team," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "With the free-agency signing period set to begin next month, this move frees up cap space which we can use to build depth in other areas."
Signed as a free agent last October, Harrell, 33, finished the 2008 season as the team's second-leading receiver, catching 94 passes for 1,165 yards and 25 touchdowns, and earning Second Team All-Arena honors.
The 10-year veteran ranks first in AFL history in touchdown receptions (320), third in receiving yards (13,046) and fourth in receptions (987).
